Introduction

Lynette Holman is an assistant professor of journalism at Appalachian State University
in Boone, North Carolina. Lynette was a Roy H. Park Fellow at The University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication and earned her Ph.D. in 2010.


Lynette taught journalism at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Virginia prior to going to UNC
in 2007. She has 10 years of experience as a graphic designer, newspaper page designer and editor at news publications including The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia and the Birmingham Post-Herald in Birmingham, Alabama, and in corporate communication at Price Waterhouse and TateAustin.


Lynette holds an MA in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and a BFA in photography from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
